Sphendononema guildingii
(Newport, 1844)

Sphendononema guildingii is a widely distributed Neotropical house centipede; it ranges from Mexico to Paraguay, and occurs in the Greater and Lesser Antilles. This species is found in dry or wet subtropical and tropical forests, usually in lowlands and low mountains. S. guildingii has a short cylindrical body (up to 35 mm), surrounded by long legs that allow for very rapid locomotion. It is an active predator of small invertebrates.
